Gelatin silver print, printed before 1979 23,8 x 30,8 cm Signed and dated (annotation date) by the photographer in ink on the reverse, archive stamp and copyright stamp on the reverse Before returning to the United States in March 1953, Frank undertook an intimate exploration of the life of miners in Caerau, Wales, on the advice of Edward Steichen. There, Frank lived with miner Ben James and his family for several days, photographing James as he worked, ate, even washed in a small basin in his home.
