Manufacture Year : c.1954
An original, Wetzlar-made prototype of the Summicron 2/90mm. The lens shows numerous differences against later lenses of the Canadian serial production, like the movable aperture index with fixed scale, different construction of the mount etc. The lens is engraved with 'f=9cm 1:2 Nr.'. The serial number and the Summicron name are omitted. A hand-engraved Roman numeral 'II' can be seen after the Nr. (also visible inside of the focusing mount). The lens is in very good condition, with optics showing some cleaning marks on the front element. Included is a matching, scarce HMOOD hood of a Wetzlar production. A similar prototype (also engraved with 'Nr.' without number) can be seen in Lars Netopil's 'Prototyp Leica' on page 76/77 and 79.
