A very rare late example of the Soviet 35mm GOMZ “Sport” SLR, manufactured in Leningrad in 1941 shortly before production was discontinued during the war.
Unlike standard “Sport” cameras, which generally do not bear an individual body number, the present camera is engraved with serial no.9469 on the chassis, an unusual feature associated with the final production period.
Fitted with the characteristic vertically travelling metal focal-plane shutter and an I-10 (Industar-10) 3.5/50mm lens no.16020, a late variant distinguished by the “I-10” designation. Included is a rare metal front cap engraved “Sport 3.5/50”.
Also included is a prototype interchangeable 6.3/100mm lens for the “Sport”, with matching metal front cap. The lens did not enter series production and represents an intended extension of the camera system.
An important ensemble documenting the final development stage of the GOMZ “Sport” system.
