An extremely rare prototype of the later Summicron 2/5cm, no.812269. Although still engraved “Summitar *”, the lens already essentially corresponds to the later Summicron in its optical and mechanical construction, making it an important transitional prototype in the development of Leica’s new high-speed standard lens. The lens is in excellent condition, the optics showing some coating blemishes, and is complete with both caps.
