Leather Bound Stereoscopic Album

American, the maroon leather album with two gilt metal clasps, 8 ¾ x 6 ", gilt stamped on the spine "Stereoscopic Album, Lippincott & Co." and 20 pages for holding 40 stereo cards. With 15 period albumen print stereographs including two by G.F. Gates of Havana Glen, the others with retailer’s labels from F.W. Queen and McAllister. Photograph albums for stereographs are very rare. They required a special book stereoscope for viewing which limited their popularity and very few were made. Ex Spira Collection.
