German, the square Russian-iron body on small claw feet, a cylindrical chimney above, all behind a condenser and lens in sliding focusing tube, in original box with maker's instruction label on inside lid, approximately 50 chromolithographed slides and a later electric lamp. 37cm high (a nice toy lantern in excellent condition with a large selection of slides)
