exceptional set of 4 perspective views or 'Vues Optiques’ intended to be used in a peep show, (1) ‘The ancient castle of Durnstein’ (Lower Austria), 60x43xm colour lithography mounted on cardboard printed by the well known Engraver Joseph Constantine Stadler, on the verso a dedication to ‘His Sacred Majesty King George III.’, dated November 21st 1844. Stadler was of German origin and settled in London in the 1780s and, since he specialized in aquatint engraving, became responsible for the successful production of many ambitious topographical works. The print is in perfect condition, (2) Gouache on card board 58x43cm depicting the Village Gmunden in Upper Austria, signed on the right lower corner, dated on the verso September 22nd 1845, the picture needs some cleaning, otherwise in good condition, (3) Gouache on card board 58x43cm entitled ‘Ober Vesel am Rhein’, bright colours and in good condition, (4) unlabeled Gouache on card board 58x39cm showing an Alpine scene with a waterfall, in perfect condition.
