rare tabletop viewer designed by the american actor and photographer George Mann containing 12 colour views by the inventor. Born 1905 in St. Monica, Mann became a vaudeville star in his early 20s and stayed in the business until the late 1940's. In his post-performance life, he turned to entrepreneurial enterprise and professional photography. In order to earn a living with photography, Mann designed a 3-D viewer, which he leased to various Los Angeles businesses, including drive-Ins, restaurants, bars and doctor's offices. As part of the deal Mann would swap out the photo selection regularly. It is not known how many viewers Mann has produced, but since his business stayed local, the number certainly was quite limited. The offered viewer is fully functional and is loaded with various Kodak Color slides from the 1960's, showing Californian natural sights, L.A. street scenes and two nudes. George Mann died in 1977, but his extraordinary photographic work has just recently been rediscovered.
