The famous Carl Zeiss Hologon 8/15mm for Leica M, offered here in beautiful, near-mint condition with very good optics. It comes complete with the original center filter, both caps and the matching 15mm finder; the spirit level in the finder has dried out.
The Hologon was first introduced by Zeiss as a fixed lens on the Zeiss Ikon Hologon Ultrawide. From 1972, it was also produced in Leica M mount and listed in the Leitz catalogue as the “Carl Zeiss Hologon for Leica M” until 1975.
With its extraordinary 110° angle of coverage and virtually distortion-free rendering, the Hologon remains one of the most remarkable ultra-wide-angle lenses ever produced for the Leica M system. Its characteristic vignetting was compensated by the dedicated center filter.
Produced only in very small numbers, the Hologon M is today one of the rarest and most desirable Leica-compatible lenses, particularly when preserved in such outstanding condition.
