The Leicavit baseplate rapid winder was developed during the early 1950s. The example offered is a prototype, showing several differences to the pre-series models released for the press in 1951: shooting mode switch engraved '1(auf)/Serie' instead of the usual 'Einzel(auf)/Serie', base plate removal lever equipped with releasing knob (a feature unseen on any other base plate accessories), different engraving style on the front etc., it is in very good condition and working order, an unique opportunity for every Leica collector!
