A very rare U.S. Navy Nikon F military outfit, based on black Nikon F body no.6701051, dating from c.1965. The camera is fitted with a special motor-drive assembly and substantial pistol grip incorporating an electric shutter release, developed for rapid operation under military conditions. The identification plate on the camera back designates the outfit as “CAMERA SET, NIKON F, STILL PICTURE KS-80A KIT”, while the motor is unusually marked KS-81A. The U.S. Navy KS-80A cameras were specially modified for airborne photography, while the much rarer KS-81A motor-drive version is associated with naval and submarine applications. Period service practice involved interchange of components, and mixed KS-80A/KS-81A configurations are known.
