A very early Sonnar 4/30 cm, no. 2427384, from the first production batch of just 60 lenses (nos. 2427341–2427400), centered on 20 October 1938 after the original optical calculation of August 1938. Although completed already in 1938, the model was only officially introduced at the Leipzig Fair and released to the market in March 1940. Most of this initial run was supplied to the military, making surviving examples extremely rare.
The lens offered here is in excellent condition and fitted with a very rare direct-mount adapter in place of the usual Flektoskop reflex housing. It represents one of the earliest and most historically important long-focus Sonnars, built as the successor to the Tele-Tessar 8/30 cm.
