A very early Nikkor 18 cm f/2.5 in S-mount, designed for use with Nikon’s reflex housing on rangefinder bodies. The offered lens is no. 473665, falling within the later production block 473500–474xxx, generally attributed to the mid-1950s. Total production for the S-mount version is estimated at ≈1,200 units, underscoring its rarity. Introduced in November 1953, this fast telephoto provided press and sports photographers with exceptional light-gathering ability. In very fine condition, with clean optics and smooth mechanics—an important and highly collectable milestone in Nikon’s early telephoto development.
