Rare prototype top plate made for the Leica M6 Electronic development project of c.1981, milled from a solid block of aluminium. The M6 Electronic was an experimental Leica M incorporating an electronic shutter, TTL metering and automatic exposure control.
The present top plate comes from the estate of Peter Loseries, who was closely involved in the development of the M6 Electronic project, giving this important prototype component particularly strong provenance. Preserved in very good condition.
