very rare prototype of the later Summicron with thorium-oxide element in correct mount (diaphragm to 22), a small series of these lenses were produced for testing purposes in 1950, 3 years before the Summicron came on the market, the lens is in very fine, original condition with clear optics - this lens is the consecutive number of two lenses (nos. 812296 & 812297) sold in our May auction in Wetzlar, according to the previous owner it was directly acquired from Mr. Keller (former employee at Leitz scientific division)
