extremely rare second model produced by Smith, Beck & Beck of London. The polished mahogany carrying case with a brass carrying handle on the top of the lid, the stereoscope is built on the underside of the lid which can be reversed and mounted on the top of the carrying case. The viewer is also made of polished mahogany with lacquered brass fittings, hinged at the back with an adjustable bracket to incline the viewer to a convenient viewing angle. The viewer has a hinged mirror for use with cardboard views; with the mirror closed the viewer can be used with glass and tissue views. The prismatic lenses are mounted in brass eyepieces on a brass plate and can be focussed by knurled brass knobs on either side of the viewer. This exceptional stereoscope is in very good overall condition. The classical Smith, Beck & Beck Mirror stereoscope is for sale in this auction.
