Set of 20 Views of Japan

set of twenty Albumen prints shot during a private travel through Japan by German or Austrian tourists in the 1890’s including views of Tokyo and Japanese parks and gardens, some of the prints are hand colored, some with handwritten annotations, all prints are mounted on cardboard panels with gilded edges, two views are duplicates. Most of the photographs are in good or perfect condition, few are slightly faded. The mounted prints are 22x13,5cm and come in the original leather covered container. A rare and beautiful document of historic Japan shortly after it opened itself to the western world.
