Moomaw / Foton High Speed Camera prototype

unique prototype high speed camera made by Lewis H. Moomaw in 1934, over 10 years later Bell & Howell released the Foton camera, which construction is largely based on this prototype, the camera measures 17x8,5x5cm, it incorporates a strong spring drive for shutter operation and film transport, it was the first camera for high speed sequential pictures - a series of amazing photographs made by Moomaw with exactly this camera has been printed in the Chicago Tribune in 1935 creating much excitement over the camera, it remained relatively unknown until it has been re-discovered and described in detail in Photographica World 4/2011, the article also shows a press photograph from 1935 showing the camera, also included is a copy of The Journal no.169 featuring this camera - an amazing discovery from the history of photography!
