A very rare prototype body, without any Leicaflex or Leitz Wetzlar engravings, showing all early features such as the pie-shaped frame counter and early-type tripod socket. It is preserved in very good condition and perfect working order, and is offered together with a matching early chrome Summicron 2/50mm no.20003088, also in very good condition with clean, clear optics.
Only a few of these cameras were produced for evaluation and field testing prior to the start of serial production – see Lager I, p.266 for a comparable example (camera no.1080245 with Summicron no.2000804). According to the Leica Archives, the present example was already manufactured in April 1964.
