Extremely rare Snapshot Leica, delivered to Leitz New York in 1949, complete with the original 35mm wide-angle finder. The camera is in excellent condition and fitted with the exceptionally rare prototype Post-War Elmar 4/3.5cm 'Snapshot' lens. This special lens features several unique characteristics: it focuses with click stops, is uncoupled, and bears no engraved serial number. It is also the scarce post-war version with coated optics. The lens is in beautiful, near-mint condition with excellent glass.
Although the Snapshot Leica was announced, it was never commercially produced, and only a few examples are known to exist. The Elmar ‘Snapshot’ lens, codenamed ELROO, is among the rarest and most distinctive Leica lenses ever made—this prototype may be unique.
