Leica MP chrome no.MP-368 'Tazio Secchiaroli' *

An historically important Leica MP no.368, delivered on 16.01.1958, and documented as the personal camera of Tazio Secchiaroli, one of the original Roman paparazzi whose work defined the visual culture of La Dolce Vita. Secchiaroli’s dynamic and candid photographs of celebrities along Via Veneto in the late 1950s profoundly influenced modern photojournalism and even inspired the character “Paparazzo” in Federico Fellini’s La Dolce Vita (1960).

The camera is offered together with a matching rigid Summicron 2/5cm no.1468612. The outfit is preserved in good, used condition, showing honest signs of professional use consistent with its historical role.

Included in the lot is the book The Original Paparazzo, bearing a personal dedication by Secchiaroli in which the serial number of the present camera (no. 368) is explicitly mentioned. This rare and direct documentary reference firmly links the camera to the photographer and significantly enhances its historical relevance.

An evocative and well-documented working tool of one of the most influential photographers of post-war Italy.
