Leica M4 black ‘50 Yea rs’ Wetzlar

‘50 years’ edition (special no. 247-L) in new condition, complete with cap, instructions and registry card in maker’s box. In 1975, for the 50th anniversary of the Leica E. Leitz, Wetzlar produced not only the Leica M5, CL und SL2, but also a limited edition of 1,750 M4-cameras with special engravings. Each of these special editions was engraved with a laurel wreath and „LEICA 50 Jahre“ and a 3-digit number ending with a letter of the name “LEICA”. Of the 1,750 cameras finished in black chrome, 1,400 were made in Wetzlar and the remaining 350 in Canada. Zum 50-jährigen Jubiläum der Leica brachte E. Leitz, Wetzlar 1975 neben der Leica M5, CL und SL2 auch eine limitierte Auflage von 1.750 M4-Kameras mit Spezialgravuren auf den Markt. Jede Sonderausführung erhielt eine Gravur mit einem Eichenlaubsymbol und dem Schriftzug „LEICA 50 Jahre“ sowie eine dreistellige Nummer, die jeweils mit einem der Buchstaben des Namens „LEICA“, endete. Von den insgesamt 1.750 M4-Exemplaren in schwarz verchromter Ausführung wurden etwa 1.400 Stück in Wetzlar und die restlichen 350 Exemplare in Kanada gefertigt.
