The final batch of olive Leica M3 cameras of this version, with serial numbers 1206962 to 1206999, was produced in 1968 in a very limited run of only 38 cameras. The example offered here is the second camera of this series.
It features the characteristic “Bundeswehreigentum” engraving on the rear of the top plate and is already fitted with the smaller 1/4" tripod thread, as later adopted for the Leica M4 — a noteworthy transitional detail within late M3 olive production.
The camera is preserved in beautiful, almost like-new original condition and still retains the original Leitz Wetzlar “L” seal, a rarely preserved detail on military-issued examples.
It is equipped with an Elmar 2.8/50mm lens, serial number 2326808, likewise manufactured in 1968, forming a correct and period-consistent outfit.
