An extremely early Leica M3, produced in the first batch of serial production that began with serial number 700001 in early 1954. This example, with chassis number 305, features the distinctive two-corner top plate associated with the very earliest M3 cameras. It retains early traits, including the absence of an L-seal, the early chassis construction, and the original double-stroke film advance. The camera was delivered to Cape Town in March 1954 and remains in excellent, original condition. It is accompanied by a collapsible Summicron 50 mm f/2 lens, no. 1115548, which was delivered to the same destination on the same date - 11 March 1954. Finding such an early body together with a matching-delivery lens is exceptionally uncommon, making this a highly desirable and historically important set.
