An exceptionally rare prototype of the Leica M Monochrom “Drifter” by Kravitz Design, the special edition created in collaboration with musician, designer and photographer Lenny Kravitz and introduced in 2019. The regular edition was limited to only 125 sets worldwide and comprised an M Monochrom (Typ 246), Summicron-M 2/28mm ASPH. and APO-Summicron-M 2/75mm ASPH.
The “Drifter” is distinguished by its characteristic sepia-brown finish and synthetic python-style covering. Both lenses received the matching brown finish, while selected edges and details expose untreated brass as part of the distinctive design.
The set offered here is one of the prototypes made during development of the edition. All three components are matching and individually engraved “P02/05”: Leica M Monochrom no.5180953, Summicron-M 2/28mm ASPH. no.4735380 and APO-Summicron-M 2/75mm ASPH. no.4735515. The matching prototype designation identifies the outfit as prototype no.2 of a series of five.
A particularly rare and complete development example of one of Leica’s most distinctive modern special editions.
