L’Escopette

The so called ‘L’Escopette’ was invented by Albert Darier and produced by E.V. Boissonas - two well known photographers working in Geneva, Switzerland. Patented in the same year as the original Kodak box of 1888, it was the first European camera to use George Eastman's new flexible film. The camera is capable to take 110 exposures. Mounted on a box-shaped wooden body, the pistol grip gives it the significant appearance of a shot gun. The two small brass front legs serve as a tripod. Besides one small dent on the brass lens mount on the front, the camera is in very good original condition. Next to the 'Scovill & Adams' Book-Camera and the Enjalbert Photo Revolver, the Escopette is one of the most iconic detective cameras and has been published in countless books. Since only a handful of these classical cameras are known to exist this might be the once-in-a-life-time chance to acquire one!
