Kiev 1947

A very early Kiev in very good, original condition, the shutter needs attention, only around 500 pieces have been produced, with matching early 1947 ZK 2/5cm no.000284 (traces of removed fungus and some cleaning marks), incl. front lens cap and leather case. While the first relocation of the Contax production line from Zeiss Ikon Dresden to Kiev in 1945 was a failure, two other production lines made by Carl Zeiss Jena were probably relocated to Kiev successfully in 1947. It seems that the „Kiev“, as it is called now, was a mixture of „Jena“ and „Dresden“ shaped parts from the start, as can be seen in this example. This is the second type with the final form of the Kiev logo. This camera is an interesting document of the Kiev company's history.
