another rare and beautiful porcelain figure of a travelling showman carrying a magic lantern made by the well known German manufacturer Hoechst. The companies sign the so called 'wheel of Mainz' on the reverse side. Like the previous lot this figure is also inspired by the well known Travelling Lanternist by Meissen which was designed by the French painter Christophe Huet who created a whole ‚cris de Paris’ series for the company in 1753. The figurine was modelled by Johann Peter Melchior who was head of the model workshop at Hoechst since 1768. The offered statuette is a modern cast dating from the mid 20th century and in perfect condition. Height: 16,5cm
