early wet plate sliding box camera, c.19x14cm plate size, dovetailed walnut body in original condition (crack in front plate, fixing screw missing), typical stains from the wet-plate process, with matching Darlot Petzval type lens no.14854 engraved 'Anc ne Mon Jamin, Darlot Sr, Paris' (rack and pinion focusing, rear element with chips - still making good picture, original hood)
