Alpha Kiev 16 Rifle *

Thanks to the successful completion of the Soyuz-Apollo project in 1975, in which the Zavod Arsenal participated with a FK-6 camera, management of the Cosmodrome Baikonur ordered a special version of a 16mm motion picture camera with a rifle stock. The camera was a gift for Sergei Vladimirovich Gusovsky (1915—1983), general director of the Kyiv Zavod Arsenal, in honour of his 60th birthday. It was an Alpha Kiev 16 with a specially adapted Tair-3 4.5/300mm lens and riffle stock coupled with the shutter release. A custom made carrying case was included, with a special plaque with anniversary engraving. Most probably, it is the only existing example of this sophisticated setup.
