A special example of the newly introduced Summicron-M 66 f/2, Leica’s modern reinterpretation of the legendary Elcan 66mm f/2 developed by Dr. Walter Mandler at Ernst Leitz Canada in the late 1960s for the US Navy. Only around 200 examples of the original lens were produced, making it one of the rarest Leica M lenses. The new Summicron-M 66 f/2 follows the optical concept and distinctive mechanical details of the historic Elcan and is limited to only 660 pieces worldwide. Offered here is the particularly important first-numbered example, no. 001, marking the beginning of this exclusive edition and representing a unique opportunity for the Leica collector.
