Simplex Multi-Exposure Model B*

Designed and manufactured in New York City, the 1915 Simplex Multi-Exposure Model B was the first commercially sold full frame 35mm camera. The Simplex lineup was produced in four models with an estimated total production of less than 50 cameras. The economy Model B here was the only version to offer full frame format only, the other Simplex models were convertible full or half frame. The Multi Exposure used 50 foot film magazines, with a capacity of up to 400 exposures and a fixed 6/50mm lens (no ser.no.) in an Ultro shutter, two original spools for perforated 35mm film, back internally engraved ´3026´ While the Tourist Multiple and the French Homeos received earlier patents (both half frame cameras), the original Simplex Multi-Exposure was sold over the counter to customers in 1914, beating the Tourist Multiple by a few months. Alas, the Simplex Multiple-Exposure camera line did not survive the marketing unpleasantries of WWI. This is the first time, that Leica Auctiones (formerly Westlicht Auctiones) has ever offered a Simplex Multi-Exposure Model B
