Samson 'Schausteller mit Laterna magica'
rare and beautiful porcelain figure of a travelling showman carrying a magic lantern on his back, made by Samson, marked with a cross on verso. By the mid 1900's Samson was a well known porcelain manufacturer specialized in copying well known and classic designs from all periods and countries. The offered figure shows clear reference to a similar figure produced by Meissen in 1756 and was modelled after a well known 18th century copper print. The figure is in perfect condition. Height: 19cm.
