Extremely early sliding box type camera, probably the oldest made in North Wales (UK) around 1856, for 11x11cm wet plates, in original, used condition, wood with worm holes, the camera is signed 'Robert Jones Allt Ddu' (Allt Ddu, summit in North Wales region), with original back (with canevas slider), together with matching early French Petzval lens Vallantin Opticien no.2377 engraved 'de 1840 à 1865 - C.tre des ateliers de Mr Lebours Paris', optics signed on their edges with matching serial number showing some light signs of separation, with hood (incl. insert) and front lens cap, historically important artifact of the Photography debuts!
