Introduced in 1972, the Fisheye-Nikkor 2.8/6mm is one of the most extraordinary lenses ever produced. Its remarkable 220° angle of view allows it to record slightly behind the plane of the camera, while maintaining an exceptional maximum aperture of f/2.8. The complex optical construction comprises 12 elements in 9 groups, and the enormous lens weighs approximately 5.2kg. Unlike earlier Nikon fisheyes, its retrofocus construction permits normal reflex viewing without locking up the camera mirror.
Produced only to special order, the present example no. 628651 is a late AI version and is preserved in beautiful, near-mint condition, with clean and clear optics. Complete with the special leather front cap, rear cap, original metal carrying case and Nikkormat FT no.3779925. The legendary 6mm Fisheye-Nikkor is rarely offered for sale, particularly in such outstanding condition.
