Set consisting of a Leica M7 Titan with three Titan lenses (28mm, 50mm, 90mm). The camera was produced in 2004 for the 50th anniversary of the Leica-M series in a limited edtion of 50 only sets. This is the first of the series with the round serial number 3,000,000. The set with this special serial number was presented to the Brazilian photographer Sebastiao Ribeiro Salgado in May of this year by Dr. Josef Spichtig CEO of Leica Camera AG. The award of special cameras with round serial numbers to important personalities is part of the company's long tradition. With this presentation the company is honouring the all-encompassing humansim of Salgado's photographic work which documents human fates in work groups such as "Workers" and "Migrations". These are important contributions to subjects which occupy the world's attention. The net profit of the sale will go to Salgado's trust fund which is concerned with the protection of tropical rain forest and re-forestation programmes in Salgado's home country Brasil. From the personal letter to the buyer: Dear friend, .....the result of the auction allow the planting of about 100.000 trees,.... thanks again of having helped us to continue our action toward hope, through the magical transformation of this prestigious unique Leica camera into a tropical forest. With my kind regards, Sebastiao Salgado
