M4-2 Safari Prototype

Leitz projected the Safari version for both R3 and M4-2 models in 1977. A handful of prototypes of the Safari M4-2 were made in Canada, but finally Leitz decided to only follow up with a Safari version of the reflex model. The offered olive M4-2 is in 100% original and near mint condition and comes with the matching olive sample-lens Tele-Elmarit-M 2.8/90mm no.3003244. A similar model with a 2/35 lens is illustrated in Nakamura page 90. According to this source the camera was produced as a sample for the Israeli Army. A rare and highly collectible camera which has never been before offered at an auction!
