Beautiful limited special edition (150 units) issued in 1999 to celebrate 150 years since the foundation of Carl Kellner’s optical institute, the forerunner of Leitz. Each of the 150 years between 1849 and 1999 is represented by a corresponding engraving on the top plate.
The edition was divided into several versions, each fitted with a different lens; every variant was produced in a batch of only 30 pieces.
The present example comprises a platinum-plated M6 body no. 2490042 with special engraving “M6-1891” and grey leather covering, together with the matching platinum-plated Summicron-M 2/50mm engraved “150 Jahre Optik 1891.” The set is preserved in absolutely mint condition and is complete with platinum-plated front lens cap, rear cap, body cap, strap, certificate, papers, special wooden presentation box and maker’s box.
