Only 100 IIIf cameras with special black painted Elmar 3.5/5cm were manufactured for the Swedish military in 1957, they were specially modified to enable them to function in arctic conditions. The offered camera is in exceptional, almost mint condition, with only minimal signs of use on the control knobs, with matching, near-mint black paint Elmar 3.5/5cm no.1427193, including an original black paint lens cap. A sidenote found in the control book in the Leica Archive confirms the batch 'Kamera no. 822901-823000 matt. schwarz'. Both camera and lens were delivered to Brandt, Sweden, on 12.02.1957. The IIIf black is not only one of the top collector's items but also one of the most attractive military Leica cameras ever made. The offered example is one of the best we have seen.
