This exceptional Leica III F was mechanically modified by Leitz to incorporate a Rapid Loading System. The prototype was developed by Leitz engineer Peter Loseries and served internal experimental and testing purposes.
Of particular significance is the archival documentation: according to the Leica Archives, this camera was delivered directly to Peter Loseries on November 20, 1967. This delivery took place approximately ten years after the official end of Leica III F serial production, whose final batch comprised serial numbers 837621–837720, completed in 1956.
The offered camera is in fully functional condition. Film is loaded and transported via the rapid loading mechanism, providing 36 exposures per roll, and the film rewinds normally and smoothly without issue. It comes with Elmar 3.5/5cm no.690431.
A highly rare and well-documented Leica prototype from the experimental development period of the 1960s, of outstanding significance to advanced collectors and Leica historians.
