An original wartime Leica IIIc in grey finish, preserved in good condition and showing some characteristic brassing along the edges. According to the delivery records, the camera was shipped to Berlin on 24 June 1942. It is accompanied by a Summitar 2/5cm no.563309 and by the exceptionally uncommon MOOLY-C no.5427 in dark grey finish.
The MOOLY-C was the special long-base spring motor developed for the die-cast Leica IIIc/IIId generation; the regular production series began at no.5001. Grey-painted examples were produced only in very small numbers during the war and are among the rarest variants of the Leica motor drive. A comparable grey IIIc with grey MOOLY-C no.5236 was sold in our 19th auction, only approximately 20 such motors were produced.
