(John Plumbe) Daguerreotype Camera

very complete outfit, probably from John Plumbe, Boston USA, box-form camera made of fine-grained, bird's-eye maple with mahogany frame for holding a 1/6 plate (approx.), ground glass focusing screen with 45° mirror angled retained from below by a chain, on the base of the camera there is a circular mount for a tripod, at the front there is a brass-bound original lens (focus by sliding out the lens), turned-wood adjustable tripod shaft from the same wood as the camera, plate-holder of wood with tin sheath and two brass retaining clips, wooden box for the plate-holder, mahogany device with brass screws, wooden plate-holder for polishing the plates with sprung metal retaining clips to secure the plates and a steel handle, head clamp with screw and sliding adjustment, an original daguerreotype, all contained in a custom-built wooden box with side carrying handles and fitting in the lid for the tripod. Unknown in this form. A real museum piece!
