The very first Soviet 2/5cm lenses were made in 1948 using original Zeiss parts assembled in the Soviet Union. At the same time GOI engineers began to develop their own version of the lens. It wasn't an easy task, because the Russian glass had different optical characteristics and the Sonnar formula by Bertele had to be recalculated to match the quality of the German counterpart. The result was Jupiter-8 lens released by GOI in late 1948. Only a handful of these lenses have been made in 1948-49 for testing and evaluation before the serial production commenced in the KMZ factory. The offered GOI Jupiter-8 is in beautiful, near-mint condition and comes with a fitted wooden box. Included in this special set is an original GOI filter set including orange, yellow and green filters in a matching wooden box.
