A very rare Foca Universel RC outfit supplied for the French Marine Nationale, camera no.1.001.442 with naval inventory marking M.L. no.596. Dating from c.1962–63, the Universel RC represented the final and most advanced development of the Foca rangefinder system, distinguished by its large collimated viewfinder and produced only in small numbers. The outfit is accompanied by five Foca lenses: Oplar 4.5/2.8cm no.10762, Oplar 3.5/3.5cm no.70671, Oplarex 1.9/5cm no.132508, Oplex 3.5/9cm no.16775 and Teleoplar 4.5/13.5cm no.127805, together covering focal lengths from 28mm to 135mm, as well as the original universal finder. The set is housed in its matching Marine Nationale case. Complete military outfits of this type are seldom encountered and represent an interesting example of post-war French naval photographic equipment.
