rare and very early microscope engraved 'C.KELLNER'S NACHFOLGER E.LEITZ IN WETZAR No.1148' on the limb, this in one of the most early microscopes by E.Leitz known to exist after the company took over from C.Kellner and Belthle. The microscope no.1050 is the first existing with the inscription 'Leitz' when Leitz became partner with Fr.Belthle. Microscope no.1127 is the most early known after Leitz took over and with the same inscription as the offered item. In 1870 Leitz produced approx. 140 microscopes with 20 employees - only about 50 were engraved still with 'C.Kellner's Nachf.' - this historic outfit is in good original condition, with unknown original angle finder, three oculars nos. I, III and V, three lenses nos. 3, 5 and 7, later revolver for three lenses and fitted mahogany box for the outfit - we like to thank Mr. John Field for the information in 'The Journal of the Microscope Historical Society'
