Berville Camera Lucida

Invented by the British scientist William Hyde Wollaston in 1807, the Camera lucida is a handy optical device designed for artists who wish to make a quick record of a scene with the correct prospective. The offered Camera lucida was produced by P. Berville of Paris an is engraved ‘Chambre Claire Universelle’, entirely made of Nickel plated brass, three telescoping sections extending to approx. 50cm, comes with a set of eleven supplementary lenses and the original fitted box, in near mint condition.
